Biography
Rev. Dr. Victor L. Hunter

Rev. Dr. Victor L. Hunter is Minister of Theology, Preaching and Pastoral Care and Counseling
at New Martinsville First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in New Martinsville, WV.  Prior to
coming to New Martinsville he has served churches in Evergreen, Colorado, New York City,
Trenton, New Jersey, and London, England   He has served as Retreat Director at A Mountain
Retreat in Pine, Colorado, a retreat center for the renewal of pastors and churches.  He has
also served as Adjunct Faculty at Phillips Theological Seminary, teaching in the fields of
Pastoral Theology and Ecclesiology. He currently teaches at Buffalo Seminary in connection
with Bethany College and the West Virginia Region of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)

He received his BA from Abilene Christian University in Biblical Studies, his M.Div. from Union
Theological Seminary in New York City in Religion and Psychiatry, and his Doctor of Ministry
from Phillips Theological Seminary.

Dr. Hunter is the author of five books in the fields of theology and pastoral care.

He is the author of numerous articles, including five articles in The New Dictionary of
  Pastoral Studies (Eerdmans-US and SPCK-Britain).

He contributed the chapter on “The Doctrine of Creation” in the new Chalice Introduction to
Theology  (Chalice Press, 2008).

Dr. Hunter is married.  He and his wife Lynette have three children and five grandchildren.
